Context
Per 2025 a Dutch learning materials distributor needs to report on sustainability (CSRD) and there is a growing interest from external stakeholders into sustainability of learning materials.
Goal
Make and implement corporate sustainability strategy, establish the CSRD readiness of the company and make reporting plan.
Approach
- Internal and external analysis of sustainability initiatives, expectations, risks and opportunities
- Create internal project team for input and buy in
- Challenge management board on their sustainability ambition
- Write Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan
- Formulate clear goals, KPI’s and internal ownership
Results
- The organization moved from many scattered and small sustainability initiatives to explicitly declaring sustainability in the corporate strategy.
- The sustainability ambition is now quantified in the strategy, and the company commits to harmoniously combining its contributions to People, Planet, and Profit. Also, achieving climate neutrality by 2030 is a goal.
- Sustainability has become a larger topic of conversation within the organization and with clients. It is explicitly mentioned in the All Hands meeting and on the Customer Day. The subject turned out to be even more alive among employees and customers than previously thought.
- There was no ESG reporting yet. And now, there is insight into CSRD readiness.
